Enabling Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)

Much of the rest of this chapter contains instructions on enabling the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) security option for use with M-Business Server. For a general overview of this security option, see Securing M-Business Server .

Note

If you have already enabled SSL in an earlier version of M-Business Server and you are upgrading to M-Business Server version 7.0, you must upgrade your certificate if you plan to upgrade any of your users to M-Business Client version 7.0.

Normally, when you upgrade or reinstall M-Business Server and have already enabled SSL, your existing ECC or RSA certificate is migrated and you do not need to reconfigure M-Business Server for security.

Depending on whether you install an ECC or an RSA certificate, M-Business Connect uses either the default or the Microsoft Internet Explorer proxy settings to provide users with a secure connection during synchronizations to M-Business Server.
