Service Development Views

The tables in this topic describe the default, Fast View, and optional views available for the Service Development perspective.

Table 1. Default views
View Description
Enterprise Explorer A list of application components from application servers, business activity monitor servers, service containers, UDDI registries, message transports, and databases. You can create connections to outside components in this view.
Properties A list of names and values for the selected resource. You can add and edit Resource properties from this view. If this view is closed, properties appear in the Properties section of the Business Process Service editor.
Service Explorer

A list of services and their component parts. You can also do any of the following:


  • Browse all available public and private services.
  • Customize the service browsing.
  • Drag and drop service operations from the Service Explorer to a composite service (business process, portal, or Java service).
Service Development Editors These editors are service-specific and display in the Service Development perspective depending on the selected service.
WorkSpace Navigator A hierarchical tree of resources. You can select a resource in this view to open it in its editor.

The following Fast views are available by default on the Fast View shortcut bar of the Service Development perspective.

View Description
Outline A tree view or a thumbnail sketch of the structural elements of the resource that is currently open in the editor.
Tool Palette A collection of activities and operators associated with the selected editor. Some editors have multiple tool palettes.

You may want to open the Problems and Tasks views so the views are easily available for use.

View Description
Problems A list of warnings, errors, or log problems generated during a business process build.
Tasks A list of tasks to be done. You can add items to this list, for example, a reminder. You can associate a manually-added task to a specific resource.
