Developing a Custom Data Service

Writing a custom data service plug-in is an alternative to using the view modeling tools. In either case, your goal is to create a data service. If you write your own plug-in in Java, create a custom data service to deploy it.

The deployer also makes it easy to work with custom data services that have many inputs. If you have already deployed custom data services using the Web UI or the CLI, you can use the deployer to manage them in WorkSpace.

Creating a Custom Data Service File
Set up a custom data service (.cds) file and identify the JAR file (data service plug-in), existing custom data service, or data service descriptor on which the new data service will be based.
Defining Input Sources for a Custom Data Service
Configure the input sources used by your custom data service.
Mapping Parameters for a Custom Data Service
If your custom data service’s input sources have parameters, map the input source parameters to global data service parameters.
