A container control is used to group child controls together.
Containers include:
- Region – only Display or Tab controls can contain a region container, which is primarily used to group controls that do not have their own containers—in other words, all the controls except radio buttons, list items, and tabs. The Region control is represented on the Screen Design page by a rectangle with dotted lines. It is not visible on the BlackBerry client, it is transparent and shows the background color of its parent (Display or Tab).
All widgets inside the region inherit the alignment property of the Display. Child widgets can override the Display alignment if you set the individual value for the child.
- Radio Group – a region in which to group radio buttons. The radio group cannot be inside a region container. The radio group contains only radio buttons, and radio buttons can be added only to radio groups.
The radio group appears as a control to be added to a persist or submit action.
- List Group – is the container for list items.
- Tab Folder – is the container for tab panels, and can be added only to the Display control. The tab folder contains one or more panes called tab panels. One tab panel is active at any given time. The active tab displays in a different color from the inactive tabs.
- Tab Panel – used to organize information in a tabular format. For example, a long form can be broken into sections represented by tab panels. Table and List Detail controls that are related to each other can also be grouped with tab panels.
