The server address is the address at which SAP ASE listens for client
connections.
The address requires this information:
Address format
IP address
Named Pipes format
Widows Sockets format
NWLink IPX/SPX format
Address Format
The format of the server address depends on the network driver used by SAP ASE.
IP Address
If you know a computer’s IP address as well as its name, specify the IP address in the sql.ini file to ensure that the computer can be found on the network.
Named Pipes Format
For the Named Pipes protocol, the network address consists of the unique pipe name for the server.
Windows Sockets Format
For the Windows Sockets protocol, the server address consists of the TCP/IP host name or IP address of the Windows computer, and a unique socket for the SAP ASE, separated by a comma.
NWLink IPX/SPX Format
Before setting up SAP ASE network support, configure the NWLink IPX/SPX software according to the instructions for your Windows operating system. Specify the correct network number (usually 0) and frame type during the configuration.
