Typically, this error occurs when a non-Sybase product sends a packet to an Open Server. telnet hostname port or other port monitoring software raises this error. Only Sybase-based products should connect to the Open Server listening port.
If the error occurs because a non-Sybase product is connecting to the server, enter the code for Open Server to ignore or suppress the error. If the error leads to a more severe problem, use a network sniffer to identify the software that is trying to connect to Open Server, then contact Sybase Technical Support.
