Determine the installation mode to use.
Note: SAP recommends that you use the GUI mode for installing SAP jConnect.
You can install SAP jConnect using:
- Graphical user interface (GUI) mode– installs the components using the
SAP jConnect installer interface.
- Console mode – installs components in a command line environment.
If you encounter the following JVM error, download and install JDK 6 or JRE

No Java virtual machine could be found from your PATH environment variable. You
must install a VM prior to running this program.
Note: Install
JDK if you plan to develop programs that use SAP jConnect.
