The BackEndType configuration property specifies the target type of the DSN you are defining. The ODBC Driver can communicate with multiple targets including database systems like Adaptive Server and gateways to non-Sybase database systems. Currently, the Adaptive Server ODBC Driver supports these back-end types:
ASE (default)
MFC Gatewayless
DC DB2 Access Service
DC TRS
Replication Server
