The <<prod...>> function provides the operation provided by the multiplication operator, either x, or more commonly *, in other languages. This function multiples the first argument by the second and returns the product.
A String data tag may be passed as an argument to the function, provided it contains only numerical characters, sign, and a single decimal character.
