Setting Up a Standby Environment

A standby disaster recovery environment serves as the new production environment when the production environment is completely lost.

  1. Install two data-tier nodes (or two MS clusters): one for production, and one for disaster recovery. Back up the database files from the production environment to the disaster recovery environment. See Backing up the Data.
  2. Install the disaster recovery server nodes and production nodes in a cluster. Allow the disaster recovery server nodes to remain stopped while the productions nodes are available.
