SAP Mobile Platform RBS applications can take advantage of the Apple background refresh feature to synchronize to the SAP Mobile Server in the background, and keep the client database up to date with any server-side data changes that might occur while the user is not using the application.
Apple iOS 7 introduced background refresh to enable an application to make background network requests to the server for updated data, so that when a user opens the application the next time, the most current data is available.
Message based synchronization (MBS) cannot run in the background, and does not support background synchronization.
