Adding a Dbspace

Add a new dbspace to the database using the Create Dbspace wizard.

Prerequisites
Space Admin authority is required.
Task
  1. In the Perspective Resources view, highlight the resource and select Resource > Administration Console.
  2. In the left pane of the Administration Console view, select IQ Servers > Space Management > Dbspaces.
  3. Hover the mouse pointer over Dbspaces and click the arrow.
  4. Select New.
  5. In the General Details view of the Create Dbspace wizard, specify:
    Option Description

    Resource

    The name of the resource on which to create the new dbspace.

    Name of Dbspace to create

    The name of the new dbspace.

    Store

    The IQ store of the new dbspace:
    • Main store
    • Catalog store

    Striping

    Enables or disables disk striping for this dbspace.

    Stripe size(Kb)

    The number of kilobytes (KB) to write to each file before the disk striping algorithm moves to the next stripe for this dbspace.

  6. In the left pane of the Create Dbspace wizard view, select DB Files to add files to the dbspace.
  7. In the DB Files view, click Add.
  8. Specify:
    Option Description

    Logical name

    User-defined name of the DB file.

    Path to physical file on disk

    Path to the physical file on disk.

    Raw device

    A check specifies the file is on a raw device.

    File size

    File size, in megabytes (MB), if the file is not a raw device.

    Reserve size

    Reserve size, in megabytes (MB).

  9. Click OK to add the file.
  10. Click Back to return to the General Details view.
  11. Click Finish.
