Create an in-memory database using the Administration Console of Sybase Control Center.
Prerequisites
Consider these database attributes:
- Size :
- sp_estspace helps you estimate table and index space requirements based on the definition of a specific table. See the Adaptive Server Reference Manual .
- Space for planned views, stored procedures, defaults, rules, and triggers
- Size of the transaction log
- Space for anticipated expansion
- Database device location, and whether there is enough space on that device.
- Transaction log location – Sybase recommends that you store the transaction log on a different device than the data.
- In the Administration Console view, select .
- Click In-Memory Databases.
- Select New.
You see the Create In-Memory Database wizard.
- On the Introduction screen, select the server in which to create a database.
- On the Database screen, enter the name of the database you want to create.
- On the Devices screen, enter the size of the new database. If you do not enter a size, the default size allocated is 3MB. You can specify separately the amount of space to allocate to the log and data segments.
- (Optional) On the Options screen, select:
- With override to store the log and data on the same logical device - this is not recommended by Sybase.
- For load if you want the database to be used for loading a database dump.
- Specify a template database that is copied over to create the in-memory database.
- (Optional) On the Guest User screen, select Create guest user to create a guest user who can access the database with limited privileges.
- (Optional) Click Summary to see the database options you have selected.
