Sybase CEP PythonPython SDK

This chapter provides a brief explanation of the Sybase CEP Python SDK.

The Sybase CEP Python SDK enables you to do the following:

• Write an input adapter or an output adapter in Python.

• Start or stop the Sybase CEP Server from inside a Python program.

• Python API Interface
  This section describes how adapters typically behave, and how they interact with the Python API Interface.
• Python API
  This section describes the three parts of the Python API: the tuple, publisher, and subscriber classes.
• Python Input Adapter (Sending Data to a Sybase CEP Stream)
  An example that demonstrates how a simple publisher writes messages to a Sybase CEP stream. This could be extended to make it an input adapter.
• Python Output Adapter (Receiving Data from a Sybase CEP Stream)
  The following example demonstrates how the Python output adapter reads data in a Sybase CEP stream.
• Configuring your Python environment
  Make sure that the python interpreter can find the c8.py file.
