Before you begin setting up the replication system, be familiar with the IBM DB2 Universal Database and have an understanding of Sybase replication. In addition:
You have obtained the licenses for the Replication Server and the Replication Server Options.
IBM DB2 Universal Database 8.2.2 or 9.1 must be installed and configured, to serve as the source (primary) database and as the target (replicate) database.
TCP/IP connectivity must be available.
Any OS patches required for Java 6.0 have been installed.
During this procedure, Sybase recommends that you do not use Replication Server reserved words for object names and connection names. A complete list of reserved words is in the Replication Server Reference Manual.
