Installing Enhanced Full-Text Search in GUI Mode

Install EFTS using the GUI installer.

Prerequisites

Install into a directory that already contains Adaptive Server version 15.5 or later.

Task
  1. Insert the Sybase® Enhanced Full-Text Search CD in the CD drive.
In Windows, if the installer does not start, go to Start > Run, and enter:
    X: \setup.exe
where X: is the CD drive.

    Click OK.

For UNIX platforms, mount the CD, then go to the CD directory and enter:
    ./setup.bin

The installer starts, and prompts you through the installation. The Welcome screen reminds you to shut down all Sybase products. Click Next to continue.
  2. Select the most appropriate country, read the license terms, click I agree, then click Next.
  3. Specify the directory in which you will install the product. The directory must point to the Adaptive Server 15.5 or later version. If you have already set environment variables, the default installation directory should point to $SYBASE (%SYBASE% on Windows).
The Summary screen confirms the size and location of the installation.
  4. Click Next to move through each page until you finish the installation.
  5. Ensure that Adaptive Server is running before going on to the next step.
  6. Configure the new server. For Windows, see Configuring EFTS on Windows for instructions on how to configure EFTS. For UNIX, click Next to start the Configuration wizard, and continue with the following steps:
