Transformation Parameters (DMM)

A parameter is an input or output variable global to a transformation task that you can use to customize your data transformations. A parameter is available to all diagrams within a given task. For example, if you manipulate sales figures, you might require a parameter specifying the sales region you are interested in.

Parameters are used in the source expression of data structure columns (see Data Structure Columns (DMM)).

• Creating a Transformation Parameter
  You can create a transformation parameter from the property sheet of, or in the Browser under, a transformation task.
• Transformation Parameter Properties
  To view or edit a transformation parameter's properties, double-click its Browser or list entry. The property sheet tabs and fields listed here are those available by default, before any customization of the interface by you or an administrator.
• Example: Assigning a Parameter to a Data Structure Column
  You can assign a parameter to a data structure column whose source expression can be modified.
