When you first connect to a database server or database, you specify a user ID, password, and other connection parameters. This information must be entered again when you make subsequent connections. To save time and simplify the connection process when using Sybase Central, you can create a connection profile to save the connection parameters for each database.
To use and manage connection profiles, click Connections » Connection Profiles to open the Connection Profiles window. Use the Connection Profiles window to:
Create a new connection profile.
Set a profile to connect automatically when Sybase Central is started.
Edit an existing connection profile.
Connect using a connection profile.
Delete a profile.
Import and export a connection profile.
Connection profiles are specific to Sybase Central. If you are building an ODBC application, you can use ODBC data sources to achieve functionality similar to connection profiles. See ODBC data sources.
