Creating an image back up (Create Backup Images Wizard)

 Make a backup (Sybase Central Create Backup Images Wizard)

Use the Create Backup Images Wizard to create a backup that copies each database file but leaves the transaction log untouched, allowing you to continue using the existing transaction log.

  1. Connect to the database as a user with BACKUP or REMOTE DBA authority.

  2. Right-click the database and click Create Backup Images.

    Tip

    You can also access the Create Backup Images Database Wizard from Sybase Central by using the following methods:

    • Select a database, and then click File » Create Backup Images.

    • Click Tools » SQL Anywhere 12 » Create Backup Images.

  3. Click Next.

  4. In the Which Database Do You Want To Back Up list, select the database and click Next.

  5. In the Save The Backup Images In The Following Directory field, type the name of a directory to save the backup copies.

  6. Select an option in the Which Files Do You Want To Back Up list and click Next.

  7. In the What Do You Want To Do With The Transaction Log list, click Continue To Use The Same Transaction Log.

  8. Click Next.

  9. Click Finish.

  10. To recover, copy all the files back in place on the database server computer.
