The BACKUP authority allows a user to back up databases and transaction logs with archive or image backups using the BACKUP statement or dbbackup utility. BACKUP authority is not inherited through group membership, and can be granted only by a user with DBA authority. See BACKUP statement and Backup utility (dbbackup).
