Server-initiated synchronization deployment considerations

Consider the following issues before deploying server-initiated synchronization applications.

Device limitations when using UDP gateways

  • The IP address on the device must be addressable directly from the MobiLink server.

  • IP tracking for UDP notification does not work if the IP address on a Windows device is not addressable directly from the MobiLink server.

Device tracking limitations

Listeners for Palm devices and Adaptive Server Anywhere 9.0.0 or earlier Listeners do not support device tracking. To use device tracking with these Listeners, you must set up device tracking manually. See Adding support for device tracking.

Light weight polling limitations

Light weight polling is not supported on Listeners for Palm devices.

Supported device platforms

The MobiLink Listener is only supported on Windows, Windows Mobile, and Palm OS devices.
