To monitor a database, you must first add the resource to the Monitor.
When you add a database as a resource to be monitored, the Monitor installs objects into the database to help the Monitor collect data. When adding the resource, you must supply the DBA user ID and password for the database. These credentials are used to connect to the database and install the database objects needed to monitor it. The DBA credentials are then discarded. For a list of the objects installed, see Installed objects.
Only administrators can add resources. By default, resource monitoring starts when the resource is added.
Log in to the Monitor.
Click the Administration tab.
On the Resources tab, click Add.
Follow the instructions in the Add Resource window to add a resource to monitor a database.
Click Create.
The resource is added and monitoring of the resource starts.
