The sample database must be running on your Windows Mobile device before you can connect to it from Interactive SQL.
To start the sample database
On your Windows Mobile device, tap Start » Programs » File Explorer.
Navigate to the SQL Anywhere installation directory by tapping Program Files » SQLAny11.
Tap the dbsrv11 icon.
In the Database field, type the path of the sample database. The default location is \Program Files\SQLAny11\demo.db. If you installed the software to a different location, use the Browse button to locate the database.
In the Server Name field, type MobileServer.
In the Cache field, type 5MB.
The default cache size on Windows Mobile is 600 KB. However, a larger cache size is recommended because it can help improve performance.
Select Use TCP/IP. This tutorial assumes that you will use the default proxy port number, 2638.
Click OK to start the sample database running on the network database server.
The database server messages window appears briefly, then closes.
Navigate to the Today screen on your device.
Tap the Server icon located in the bottom right corner of the screen.
The database server messages window appears.
When the message Now accepting requests
appears in the database server messages window, you are ready to move on to the next lesson.
Next you will learn how to connect from Interactive SQL to the database running on your Windows Mobile device.
