For statically and dynamically linked Open Client and Open Server applications (dblib, ctlib, esql, and srvlib), Sybase recommends the following:
For statically linked applications, you must do a complete rebuild of the application(s) with the new version of software. You must recompile and relink the application with the new header files and libraries.
For dynamically linked applications, Sybase recommends a recompile and relink. At the very least, a relink with the new libraries is required.
If you have made any changes to the application files
or the Sybase header files have changed, a recompile is mandatory.
Be certain that the runtime libraries are for the same major release as the version used to build the application.
