Remote procedure calls (RPCs) are stored procedures executed indirectly through the request of a client application. Sets of RPCs used to return system information, table information, and capabilities data can be grouped into a catalog stored procedure (CSP). A CSP serves as a uniform catalog interface for accessing the system tables of different database management systems. Sybase supplies CSPs with the DB2 UDB Option for CICS. These CSPs can be used with JDBC or ODBC.
