The DirectConnect for z/OS Option access services are a primary means of accessing mainframe data. The following DirectConnect for z/OS Option access service features are available to the three-tier user and unavailable in a two-tier environment:
Datatype translation – datatypes used by LAN client applications match those used on the mainframe.
SQL transformation – SQL used by LAN client applications is matched to the SQL used by mainframe applications.
