This appendix describes and compares two-tier, gateway-less and three-tier, gateway-enabled environments within the Mainframe Connect IPS.
Many of the components in the Mainframe Connect IPS can be used both with the DirectConnect for z/OS Option, in a three-tier, gateway-enabled environment, and without the DirectConnect for z/OS Option, in a two-tier, gateway-less environment. This section describes issues you should consider when using Mainframe Connect IPS components in a two-tier environment or three-tier environment.
