DB2 UDB Option for CICS resides on the mainframe and works with the DirectConnect for z/OS Option to provide dynamic access to mainframe DB2 data.
Client applications access DB2 UDB Option for CICS in one of the following ways:
Through the DirectConnect for z/OS Option DB2 access service or TRS
Indirectly through the CIS functionality in Adaptive Server Enterprise (ASE)
DB2 UDB Option for CICS is available only for CICS environments.
For IMS and native z/OS environments, use OmniSQL Access
Module™ for DB2/CICS for IMS and z/OS.
