The following figure illustrates the use of the Mainframe Connect IPS components to access data in DB2 UDB for z/OS. IPS components are noted in bold type.

In accessing data in DB2 UDB, the client may:
Invoke an RPC to execute a user-written Server Option application,
or
Send SQL queries to DB2 UDB through the DB2 UDB Option for CICS.
