Verify that you have the required Solaris patches for JDK 1.3, and 1.4. See these Web pages for more information:
The console may display error messages about missing fonts when you start the installation program. You can safely ignore these messages. See Installing the Java 2 SDK and Runtime Environment for additional information.
Solaris 2.8 is the same as Sun OS 5.8 and Solaris 8.
