Although this book assumes that you have a basic knowledge of messaging systems in database management, this chapter introduces some basic message concepts and models, and provides a short glossary of terms. Most of the discussion concerns aspects of messaging that are specific to Adaptive Server. This functionality referred to in this document as Real Time Messaging Services (RTMS).
