System requirements

The following tables show the required version-level, RAM, and network-protocol requirements for Adaptive Server. See the release bulletin for the latest information on required system patches.

**Table 2-1: Server system requirements**

Before running Adaptive Server12.5.4 on Windows 2000 you must update the Windows C run time libraries. You can do this in one of the following ways:

Install the Windows 2000 Support Tools, or
Download a patch vcredist.exe referred to in Microsoft Knowledge Base article # 259403. You can find the patch
Install Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0.

Set character or block devices for each disk partition, one or the other should be used, not both.
