“Last Log Page Writes” reports the number of times a task was switched out because it was put to sleep while writing the last log page.
The task switched out because it was responsible for writing the last log page, as opposed to sleeping while waiting for some other task to write the log page, as described in “Group commit sleeps”.
If this value is high, review “Avg # writes per log page” to determine whether Adaptive Server is repeatedly writing the same last page to the log. If the log I/O size is greater than 2K, reducing the log I/O size might reduce the number of unneeded log writes.
