Although this book assumes that you have a basic knowledge of messaging systems in database management, this chapter introduces some basic message concepts and models, and provides a short glossary of terms. Most of the discussion concerns aspects of messaging that are specific to Adaptive Server. This functionality is referred to in this document as Real-Time Messaging Services (RTMS).
