Starting and Stopping Sybase IQ

Use the start_asiq utility to start the Sybase IQ developer edition server from command line. You can then use the and stop_asiq command line utility to stop the server as required.

Prerequisites

You must have read and write permissions on the master device for an Sybase IQ server to start it with the start_asiq utility. Similarly, only the System Administrator has permission to stop this server once started.

To start or stop Sybase IQ , change to a directory where you have read and write privileges and run the appropriate utility. For a complete description of how to start and stop Sybase IQ,see the documentation collection available on the Sybase Product Manuals Web site at http://sybooks.sybase.com.

Because Sybase IQ runs on a SQL Anywhere database, the start_asiq utility also starts the SQL Anywhere database server. To stop the database server only, use the SQL Anywhere dbstop utility.
