Creating a JMS Connection Profile

Create a JMS connection profile to supply the runtime connection information for a Java Message Service (JMS) endpoint.

You can create and use external JMS connection profiles during the design phase or during the deployment phase. However, you can also use the fully-configured default EAServer connection profiles installed with Sybase WorkSpace if this profile suits your requirements.

Note: If you change the connection properties of a connection profile that is already connected, the profile immediately disconnects from the resources and automatically attempts to reconnect using the updated information.
  1. In Enterprise Explorer, right-click the server type or enterprise resource for which you want to create a connection profile and select New.
  2. On the Wizard Selection page, select the appropriate connection profile type and click Next.
  3. Enter a name and description for the connection profile, and click Next.
Table 1. Create Connection Profile page
    Field Description
Name Enter a unique and descriptive name for the connection profile.
Description (Optional) Enter a profile description that helps you distinguish it from others.
Auto-Connect at Startup (Optional) Connect automatically to the server and display its contents in Enterprise Explorer when Sybase WorkSpace starts.
  4. In the Driver Details page, specify the driver and connection properties as needed. Choose from the following:
    • To use a JMS provider supplied by Sybase WorkSpace, select a driver from the drop-down list and click Next.

The fields are automatically populated with a syntactically-correct URL and Context Factory according to your selection. Nonetheless, you must still configure the following:

      1. Replace the Host name with the name of the server you are accessing, even if the JMS server is running on the same host as WorkSpace.
      2. Enter the user ID and password for the JMS server. The default user ID is admin@system and the default password is password1.
      3. Continue to the last step.
    • To use an external, user-defined JMS provider, do the following:
      1. Click [...] next to the driver drop-down list, to select other driver definitions for your external JMS provider.
      2. In the Driver Definitions dialog, select the JMS folder at the top of the tree and click Add.
      3. In the New Driver Definition dialog, select Generic JMS from Available Driver Templates and click OK to close this dialog.
      4. In the Driver Definitions dialog, select the new Generic JMS folder and click OK.
        Table 2. Driver details
        Property Description
Driver Name The unique name of the driver. You can change the name of the driver in this field.
Driver Type A read only field identifying the driver.
Driver Files Use the Add Jar/Zip, Edit Jar/Zip, Remove Jar/Zip, and Clear All buttons to locate the required driver files used by the driver. Default file names and locations are provided, but you must verify their location.
      5. Define the following properties from the Driver Details page and click Next.
        Table 3. Connection properties
        Property Description
Provider URL Enter the URL address for the external JMS provider.
Initial Context Factory Enter the context factory for the external JMS provider.
User Name Enter the name for the JMS provider login.
Password Enter the password for the JMS provider login.
      6. In the Queues Contained Within page, define the queues for the external JMS provider:
        1. Enter a queue name.
        2. Define the connection factory for the queue and click Add.
        3. (Optional) Reorder or remove existing queues using Up, Down, Remove, or Clear All buttons.
        4. Click Next.
  5. Click Test Connection to ping the server and to verify that the connection profile is working.
  6. Click Finish to create the connection profile.

The connection profile displays under the appropriate category in the Enterprise Explorer.
