Validating an XML Document Instance

Use the XML Editor to validate XML documents against an XML schema.

If a document does not link to a schema, you cannot validate the structure against any schema.

  1. Do one of the following:
    • Open the document in the XML Editor.
    • If the document is already open, save the changes.
  2. Select XML > Validate XML.

    The XML Editor checks the structure of the document and displays an information dialog with the results. Detailed descriptions of validation errors display in the Problems view.
