Install Adaptive Server Enterprise

Adaptive Server Enterprise (ASE) 15.0.02 Developer Edition is an optional installation, which includes ASE ESD#5. Install ASE 15.0.02 first, then install ASE ESD#5.

Prerequisites

If Sybase servers are already installed in your environment, prior to installing the version of ASE provided with Sybase WorkSpace, back up the Sybase Central .scRepository file. Otherwise, the existing Sybase servers may no longer display in Sybase Central. To back up the Sybase Central repository:

  1. Back up the .scRepository file located in the Sybase Central 4.3 directory, which is located in the directory where you installed other Sybase servers, such as ASE, SQL Anywhere, or Sybase IQ.

  2. Install Sybase WorkSpace 2.1, including any Sybase Developer Edition Servers.
  3. Using a text editor, merge the contents of the backed up .scRepository file to the new .scRepository file.
Note: When ASE installs, it appends the beginning of your PATH with a long string value when the installation completes. This process may truncate a portion of your original PATH if your original PATH is longer than 1024 or 2048 characters for Windows Service Pack 1 and 2, respectively.

  • Before beginning the ASE installation, save a copy of your entire PATH to another location.
  • After the ASE installation is complete, compare your current PATH to the one you saved and make any necessary adjustments.
  1. Start the installer. Select from the following:
