Installing a New License Server

If you have opted for a served license model and are not using an existing license server, you must install a new license server.

Prerequisites

You can have only one SySAM license server on a machine. If you already have a SySAM 1.0 license server, replace it with a SySAM 2.0 license server.

  1. Go to the SySAM site at http://www.sybase.com/sysam. You can access presentations, documentation, and frequently accessed questions about SySAM from this page.
  2. Click SySAM Standalone License Servers to access the SySAM Standalone License Server Install page.
  3. Click Download the SySAM Standalone License Server, and select I AGREE on the license-agreement page.
  4. Click Continue, and provide customer information.
  5. Click Submit, and select a license server installation appropriate for your platform.
  6. Download the installation archive.
  7. Extract the archive to a temporary directory, and activate the setup executable to start the installation.
  8. Follow the instructions in the installation wizard to install the SySAM server.
Note: Be sure to copy any served licenses you generated into the licenses directory of your SySAM license server installation. The license manager will not start and stay running without at least on valid license file.
  9. Start your SySAM server. For instructions on SySAM license server configuration and administration, see the Sybase Software Asset Management 2.0 Users Guide
