Creating an LDAP Repository Connection Profile

Create a Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) connection profile that looks up information based on a distinguished name (DN) from an LDAP server.

Note: If you change the connection properties of a connection profile that is already connected, the profile immediately disconnects from the resources and automatically attempts to reconnect using the updated information.
  1. In Enterprise Explorer, right-click the server type or enterprise resource for which you want to create a connection profile and select New.
  2. On the Wizard Selection page, select the appropriate connection profile type and click Next.
  3. Enter a name and description for the connection profile, and click Next.

Auto-Connect at Startup (Optional) Connect automatically to the server and display its contents in Enterprise Explorer when Sybase WorkSpace starts.

Scope The scope of the search. Select one of these values from the drop-down list:

    • one - retrieves information about entries one level below the base DN specified in the URL. The base entry is included in this scope.
    • object - if specified, retrieves zero or one entry from the base search DN, or if not specified, retrieves information about the base DN.
    • subtree - retrieves information about entries at all levels below the base DN specified in the URL. The base entry is included in this scope.
Base DN Distinguished name (DN) of an entry in the directory. The base DN identifies the entry that is the starting point of the search if the base search DN is not provided.
Search DN (optional) Identifies the entry that is the starting point of the search.
User DN (optional) if supplied, operations use the current user's DN and password if the user is known and anonymous if not.

Anonymous Select this option to connect to the LDAP server if you do not know the user DN.
Password Enter the password for the LDAP server login, if required.
  5. Click Test Connection to ping the server and to verify that the connection profile is working.
  6. Click Finish to create the connection profile.

The connection profile displays under the appropriate category in the Enterprise Explorer.
