Creating a WS-Security Keystore Connection Profile

Create a new WS-Keystore connection profile to supply secure communication over HTTP connections to a service container.

Prerequisites

You must define a keystore that is accessible by the server on which Sybase WorkSpace is installed.

Note: If you change the connection properties of a connection profile that is already connected, the profile immediately disconnects from the resources and automatically attempts to reconnect using the updated information.
  1. In Enterprise Explorer, right-click the server type or enterprise resource for which you want to create a connection profile and select New.
  2. On the Wizard Selection page, select the appropriate connection profile type and click Next.
  3. Enter a name and description for the connection profile, and click Next.

Description (Optional) Enter a profile description that helps you distinguish it from others.
Auto-Connect at Startup (Optional) Connect automatically to the server and display its contents in Enterprise Explorer when Sybase WorkSpace starts.
  4. Complete the following information on the wizard pages:
    Table 2. Keystore Properties page

Keystore drivers The WS-Security keystore driver used to access the profile. Merlin is the default.
Keystore file Enter or Browse to the full path of the keystore file.
Keystore password (optional) the keystore password used to access the keystore. The password is dependent on how you created the keystore file.
Keystore type The format of the truststore. The default depends on which keystore file is used, but can also be changed. Possible values are:
    • JKS – provided through the Sun JDK.
    • JCEKS – provided through the Java Cryptography Extension (JCE).
  5. Click Test connection to verify access to the keystore using the specified path, type, and optional password.
  6. Click Finish to create the connection profile.

The connection profile displays under the appropriate category in the Enterprise Explorer.

  7. To view certificate information, expand the connection profile folder, expand the Available Certificates folder, right-click the certificate and select Properties.
