Creating a Business Activity Monitor Server Connection Profile

Create a Business Activity Monitor Server connection profile to connect to a JMS endpoint and enable business activity monitoring in a business process service.

You can also use the fully-configured default Business Activity Monitor Server connection profile installed with Sybase WorkSpace.

Note: If you change the connection properties of a connection profile that is already connected, the profile immediately disconnects from the resources and automatically attempts to reconnect using the updated information.
  1. In Enterprise Explorer, right-click the server type or enterprise resource for which you want to create a connection profile and select New.
  2. On the Wizard Selection page, select the appropriate connection profile type and click Next.
  3. Enter a name and description for the connection profile, and click Next.
Table 1. Create Connection Profile page
    Field Description
Name Enter a unique and descriptive name for the connection profile.
Description (Optional) Enter a profile description that helps you distinguish it from others.
Auto-Connect at Startup (Optional) Connect automatically to the server and display its contents in Enterprise Explorer when Sybase WorkSpace starts.
  4. Complete the following information in the wizard page:
Table 2. New Business Activity Monitor Connection Profile
    Field Action
Select Driver Select the driver for your Business Activity Monitor Server, or click [...] to define a new driver.

    The Driver Definitions dialog opens.

Database The database associated with the connection profile, which is populated with the default value based on the selected database driver. You can use the default value or enter a database name. For example, SCRuntime.
URL Enter the URL address for the profile or modify the sample syntax provided for your monitor service database driver. For example, jdbc:sybase:Tds:localhost:8214
User Name Enter the name for the Business Activity Monitor Server login.
Password Enter the password for the Business Activity Monitor Server login.
Save Password Select this checkbox to save the password for this connection profile.

Passwords persist for the current WorkSpace session. If you do not save your password and exit WorkSpace, you must enter the password when connecting to the database server using the connection profile for the new WorkSpace session.

Note: Whether you want to save your password depends on your organization's security policy. Passwords are saved using minimal encryption.
  5. Click Test Connection to ping the server and to verify that the connection profile is working.
  6. Click Finish to create the connection profile.

The connection profile displays under the appropriate category in the Enterprise Explorer.
