Transactionality of a Stateful Business Process Service

A stateful business process service executes as a sequence of transactions, each of which acts like a single transaction of a stateless service and has the rules of a stateless service.

After each transaction completes, the state of the stateful service is saved so that it can be recovered in case of server or resource failure.
