Viewing the Source of a SOAP Message

Use the SOAP Inspector together with the service test dialogs and wizards to view the source of a SOAP message.

After enabling the service tester to interact with the SOAP inspector by enabling the proxy settings option, confirm that the settings for the proxy are correct. Normally, the proxy is the SOAP Inspector, running on a local machine, so local host should be used for Proxy host. The value of the Proxy port setting should be the same as the one used by the SOAP Inspector, which is displayed in the status bar when the SOAP inspector is started.

Note: To change the port used by the SOAP Inspector, go to Window > Preferences > Sybase, Inc > Services > SOAP Inspector and edit the port value.
  1. Select Window > Show view > Other > Sybase > SOAP Inspector from the main menu bar.
  2. Click the toggle switch icon to route each Request/Response message sent between the Service Testing wizard and the service through the SOAP Inspector proxy.

The text in the status bar changes from Stopped to Started.

  3. Double-click a message in either the Inbound Messages or Outbound Messages folder to display its source.
  4. (Optional) To save the source, select File > Save from the main menu bar.
