Troubleshooting SOAP Service Runtime Errors

Problem: Runtime errors in a SOAP service.

Note: SOAP services should always be tested before using within Service Container. Several third-party tools are available for testing a SOAP service in addition to the testing tools provided by Sybase WorkSpace.

Solution: Use the following sequence to troubleshoot SOAP service runtime errors:

  1. Review the SOAP response message that appears in the Response Message frame of the Service Testing Wizard.
  2. Capture the request and response in the SOAP Inspector:
    1. Open the SOAP Inspector view.
    2. Start the SOAP Inspector. Click the On/Off toggle in the view.
    3. Check the Enable proxy settings on the Options page of the Service Testing Wizard.
Note: Setting a proxy setting means that the soap request of a service invocation will be redirected to the host and port specified and captured by the SOAP Inspector before the request or response is forwarded to the target.
Use the SOAP Inspector together with the service test dialogs and wizards to view the source of a SOAP message. For information on viewing the source of a SOAP message, see the WorkSpace collection for Service Development .
