Specifying Retrieval Arguments in a Query File

You can specify retrieval arguments in the SQL editor when you add saved query files for SQL statement operations.

  1. Open the query file you want to edit in the SQL editor.
  2. Click inside the SQL editor and select Design > Retrieval Arguments from the main menu bar.

    The Specify Retrieval Arguments dialog box opens.

  3. To add an argument, enter the argument name and type and click OK.
  4. Select the column from the Column drop-down list in the Where tab.
  5. Select the operator from the Operator drop-down list.
  6. Right-click in the Value column, select Arguments, select the argument, and click Paste.
  7. Select File > Save from the main menu bar.
  8. To preview the results, select Execute from the Design menu.

    The Specify Retrieval Arguments dialog box opens.

  9. Enter a value for the argument you created and click OK.
  10. Select the Results tab to preview the results.
  11. Select File > Save from the main menu bar.
