Editing a SOAP Service Endpoint

An endpoint provides the service implementation to a SOAP service.

You can reuse an existing service by editing its service endpoint.

  1. Open the service that you want to edit.
  2. Select the Service Interface tab.
  3. Choose from the following:
    Option Action
    To add an endpoint Right-click the endpoint icon in the service interface and select Add Endpoint.
    To edit an endpoint Right-click the service interface and select Edit Endpoint.

    The Endpoint Type dialog opens.

  4. To edit a service endpoint, choose one of the following and click Next.
    Option Description
    Resource Defines and binds the service endpoint to a resource. You can edit this endpoint any time in the development process.
    Logical Defines a logical endpoint, requiring you to bind the service endpoint later in the development process.
  5. To define the endpoint, choose from the following:

    1. Enter the endpoint name and click Next.
    2. Edit any of the following connection properties and click Next.
      • Reference from Workspace – browse your project to select the WSDL file that will serve as the endpoint.
      • Specify the endpoint properties and press Enter to enable the Next button – choose from the following:
        • Browse a local file to select the WSDL file that will serve as the endpoint.
        • Browse a UDDI registry to select the WSDL file that will serve as the endpoint.
    3. Select the operations you want to expose and click Next.
    Logical Choose from the following:
    • Select an existing endpoint from the list box.
    • Click Add to add an endpoint to the list.
  6. Review the service details on the Summary page and do one of the following:
    • Click Finish to complete the endpoint definition.
    • Click Back to edit a value.
