Entering a Tag Value in a Message Definition

You must define the tag data for a tagged field or a tagged container. The tag is used to identify the field or container in the message.

  1. In the WorkSpace Navigator of the Service Development perspective, expand the project that contains the message definition you want to work with.
  2. Expand MessageDesigns, then expand MessageDefinitions.
  3. Double-click the message definition.

    The message definition opens with a .wfm extension in the Message Definition editor.

  4. Select the Message Details tab.
  5. In the Message Definition section, select the container or field you want to work with.
  6. Do one of the following:
    Option Action
    To enter a tag value for a container In the Container Properties section, expand the Node Type property, select its Tag Value subproperty, and click the ellipsis ... 
      .
    To enter a tag value for a field In the Field Properties section, expand the Node Type property, select its Tag Value subproperty, and click the ellipsis ... 
      .
    The Value and Type Settings dialog box appears.
  7. Choose one of the following from the Type menu:
    Option Action
    To enter the tag value as a character string Select String.
    To enter the tag value in hexadecimal notation Select Binary.
  8. In the Enter tag value field, enter the literal tag that identifies the container or field.

    For example, <ZIP> or 5a49503a.

  9. Click OK.
