Database Development Views

The Database Development perspective includes default views, the Fast View, and optional views.

The following tables describe Database Development perspective views.

Table 1. Cheat Sheet views

Table 2. General views
View Description
Problems A list of errors and warnings resulting from execution.
Properties A limited list of names and values for a selected resource. You can add and edit resource properties in this view.
Outline A tree view of the SQL statement or procedural definition you are editing. Clicking part of a statement in Outline highlights the entire statement in the SQL File Editor.
Table 3. SQL Development views
View Description
Execution Plan A display of the execution plan of a selected SQL statement. Execution plans are used in performance tuning.
SQL Results A display of SQL results. View result sets, history results, run status, and database server messages from this view. You can also save or export result sets or results history into different file formats.
Table 4. Sybase views
View Description
Enterprise Explorer A list of application components from application servers, monitor servers, and databases. You can create connections to outside components in this view. Use Enterprise Explorer to view and edit database resources and to execute and debug procedural objects. You can also create a database service directly from this view.
Service Explorer A list of services and component parts. You can:
  • Browse all available public and private services

  • Customize the service browsing

  • Drag and drop service operations from the Service Explorer to a composite service (business process, portal, or Java service)

WorkSpace Navigator A list of workspace resources, such as SQL files, XML files, results files, and servers. The listed resources are grouped by project. You can set the WorkSpace Navigator view type from the WorkSpace Navigator toolbar.
The Cheat Sheets, Execution Plan, SQL Results, Enterprise Explorer, Service Explorer, and WorkSpace Navigator views can be displayed as fast views by clicking the Fast View icon and choosing the corresponding view from the context menu.
