Database Development Logging

Set database development logging preferences for logging events in the Sybase WorkSpace environment.

Table 1. Database Development logging: Console
Property Description
Enable Console logging Enable logging to the Eclipse Console view (default). To see the Console view, select Window > Show View > Other > Basic > Console.
Log Level Select the level of verbosity for console logging:
  • Debug — designates fine-grained informational events that are useful for debugging an application.
  • Info — designates informational messages that highlight the progress of the application at a coarse-grained level.
  • Warn — designates potentially harmful situations.
  • Error — designates error events that might still allow the application to continue running.
  • Fatal — designates severe error events that will presumably lead the application to abort.

Enable Eclipse Logging Enable logging to the Eclipse log file and the Error Log view (default).

Property Description
Enable file logging Write logs to the specified file in the file system (default).
Log level Select the level of verbosity for console logging:
  • Debug — designates fine-grained informational events that are useful for debugging an application.
  • Info — designates informational messages that highlight the progress of the application at a coarse-grained level.
  • Warn — designates potentially harmful situations.
  • Error — designates error events that might still allow the application to continue running.
  • Fatal — designates severe error events that will presumably lead the application to abort.
Log file Enter or browse to the location and name of the log file.
Rollover frequency Select how often the log file should be reset: Daily, Weekly, or Monthly.
Clear log file on startup Erases contents of log file each time Sybase WorkSpace is started (default).
